[Solved] How to set Microsoft Office format as default

Post by shagdog1976 »

I am going to be deploying OpenOffice to my company instead of Microsoft Office in many cases and want to know how to set the "Always save as" option in Writer and Calc to Microsoft Word/Excel 97/2000/XP for all profiles on the machine w/o having to log into each profile and setting it.

Thanks in advance

Tools>Options>Load/Save>General dialog (bottom area). Beware, MS Office format is a closed format, no chance to recover its content if there is an issue.

NB: don't forget to search before posting, it has already been discussed.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' in your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

I moved the thread to the general section of Setup and troubleshouting because it's not specific to Windows.

Thank you for your response but you did not answer my question.

I want to know if somehow in OpenOffice you can change this setting for all users/profiles

There is a configuration file that handles the default save format, see here : Default format (odt to doc) for domain users.
