Forum Load Speed and Mac OS 27 lack of clarity or path forward

Post by yeahman »

I've been a user since the beginning. I use Microsoft at work, and I dont care to pay for this or use the Mac native stuff. I've been using OOO on windows, and with my transition to Mac i kept using it. I even used OOO, probably close to the beginning in 2002, maybe it was closer to 2005. Haven't needed this till now.

Two big complains, which i think are UX, by definition.
1) This forum loads slower than a 1992 BBS, and that was on a 2400 baud modem. So it's hard to contribute or read.

2) Lack of clarity on Mac OS 27:
a) the forums here, where another user has the same concern and seemed like his comment got dismissed and then sent in the direction of the bug reports. Searching subsequently found that everything that discusses OS27 makes sense points in the direction of bug reports, with no real solution to OS 27 for OOO, other than abandoning OOO, or delaying an upgrade to the OS.
b) the bug report site cannot be logged into. It says there were AI problems, but now there's no way to create a login, you had to have had a login. So that 'solution' doesnt work.
Now i'll clarify, the note that Mac OS has started popping up with the latest .5.1 does say "future" so maybe this is a 2 year problem and not a this year problem. Not really clear, but it is coming, and I dont see any discussion in the OOO discussions on the dev monthly updates.
Mac Tahoe 26.5.1 OOO 4.6.1 I am scared of what comes with Mac 27, so I installed Libre 26.2.3

A note; this forum is user support by users and we don't have developers here.
Mac OS 27
There has been some discussion recently on the dev mailing list; you might try searching the List Archive for the string mac silicon.
LibreOffice has versions for the newer Mac chips.
bug report site cannot be logged into
It seems login requests were disabled due to spam; if you subscribe to the dev mailing list dev-subscribe@openoffice.apache.org you can ask for a login there.
Slackware 15 (current) 64 bit
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.16
LibreOffice 26.2..2; SlackBuild for 26.2.4 by Eric Hameleers

I hate this damn computer, I wish that I could sell it.
It won't do what I want it to, Only what I tell it.

For a long time, perhaps a year or even more, this forum has been under various forms of attack, these sometimes even disabling access. At present it is slow to open and occasionally times out, but it is at least generally accessible.

The support team on the servers work assiduously to fix the problems, but each fix is countered by an amended attack.

Why these attacks take place, who knows?
