[Dropped] Tiny text
[Dropped] Tiny text
I have read the other tiny text article, and am wondering if any progress has been made to resolve this issue. The text from the opening screens of OpenOffice on my Macbook are so small as to be unintelligible. Help.

What are your settings in Preferences/OpenOffice.org/Users interface/Scaling?
Also look at View/Zoom.

Zoom in your whole screen image until you can read it.

Re: Tiny text
I already tried it, but it seems that the text is small as pixel size.
So, even if I zoom in my desktop, the fonts are unreadable.

Re: Tiny text
Did you look at View/Zoom on the menu bar?
What are your display settings in Apple/System Preferences/Displays?
Try resetting your user profile. See:
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... 74&t=12426
Are you using an Intel or PPC Mac? What kind of monitor?
I don't have any ideas for a solution yet, as I have only heard of this problem with notebooks using an external monitor in mirror mode.
Any more details you could provide would be helpful.

Re: Tiny text
Also getting this same problem. 10.5.7 and OpenOffice 3(something or other)
Using 'Option-shift-+' only zooms in and the font is still unreadable. Yes, you can hazard a GUESS with some items like 'OK' or 'Cancel' but the rest is beyond even my 20/20 vision. So trying to locate the preference items to alter settings is impossible.
We'd be talking 'second option down.. third button from the left' kind of directions!
HELP!?

I have the same problem and I am also using a Samsung LCD TV as my monitor I think this is a result of using DVI to VGA adaptor however I dont have a DVI to HDMI adaptor to test the theory has anyone got the cable and able to test this?

Re: Tiny text
I am getting the same problem on my screen 1360 x 768 HD tv
Menu's are too small to read and nothing I do seems to change that!
It's making OO unusable. Has anyone found a good fix for this yet?

Hello, as temporary workaround try to set the resolution to 1024x768, start openoffice and then switch back to 1360x768

I am experiencing the same problem using iMac OS X 10.6.2. Has anyone come up with a better solution than first lowering the screen resolution and then, after calling up Open Office 3, increasing the resolution?

Re: Tiny text
I tried this and it doesn't work. At a lower resolution the OO.o image does become larger, but the icons remain small & the text is still too small to read. Check out this image capture. {sorry, I don't know how to upload an image to this forum}ceppiratti wrote:Hello, as temporary workaround try to set the resolution to 1024x768, start openoffice and then switch back to 1360x768

Are you using a TV as monitor? If so, what type of input are you using? DVI, HDMI, VGA?mamouse124 wrote:I am experiencing the same problem using iMac OS X 10.6.2. Are are you using mirrored mode or extended desktop?

Re: Tiny text
I am having the same problem as well, however, I found one way of navigating the preferences pane.
I clicked on the menu labeled open office.org and clicked on preferences. That opens a window that has a list of folders on the left side. The top one is called OpenOffice.org and the third thing under it is called view. When that opens there are two sets of up and down arrows. The bottom set is how small a font can be before the program gives up trying to decipher it. Click in the box directly to the left of it and type 1 then hit enter and click on the ok button at the bottom of the pane. After this everything is still really small, but at least if you zoom in, you can read what things say. I haven't figured anything else out as of yet, but hopefully this will help someone smarter than me who will be able to figure it out.
Also for those who want to know:
I am running at 1600x900 on a 22" LED TV through the vga port. I have an intel mac mini with a mini-dvi to vga adapter.
Everything else on the computer displays beautifully, so I'm pretty sure it is something within the program proper that is causing the display issues.

Re: Tiny text
Mega old thread, but it helped me get my problem answered.
I'm a new user here, but I recently "fixed" this issue. OP doesn't mention if the program ever showed things properly, I've been and still am a happy user of OO. It didn't have this problem.
Working on a book for a client and I needed to install a new font some DIN style. As soon as I'd done that, this problem occurred.
Removing the font brought everything back to the way it was.
If the program was working well up until some point in time, think about what changes/installations may have happened, roll them back/remove them and see if you've found your issue.
