[Solved] Chart thickness of lines problem

I'm having trouble with accurate tuning of line thickness in a chart object. If I print chart unchanged, with line thickness = 0, this lines are printed almost invisible. The next accessible value is 0.02", and it's too thick. Well, 0.01 or 0.015 does nothing, it seems like Writer rounds values to 0.02" step. What should I do?

So are you saying that a line of .02cm is too thick for you, or is the line actually printing much thicker than the setting?

Normally I find .02cm produces an ideal width for a line or scatter chart, so I suspect your issue is the latter.

OOo's internal architecture is fundamentally flawed when dealing with non-metric units.

Just enter the line thickness value, including "mm" as the units, like this: 0.10mm

The input in mm will be stored correctly (0.100mm, or 0.0039"), and the line will be drawn with the correct thickness, even though the dialog box shows it as 0.00"

Note that this is a screenshot from an exported PDF. These small changes in line thickness are not visible (for me at least) in OOo, but they are visible on paper, or as a PDF.

BTW, a line thickness of absolute zero is special: it produces a line 1 pixel wide on whatever device the graphic is displayed on. For a monitor at ~100dpi that's ok. For a printer at 600dpi, it's almost invisible.

legalnan - double click on the exact part of the chart you want to customize for options.

I want the whole line graph to be thinner. If I click on one spot, I get options for the Y axis but nothing for the x axis and nothing about thickness. If I highlight the whole chart and double click on it, nothing happins. Is there a way to upload it for you to see? I don't see that option in the reply screen.

Thanks so much. When I double click the chart, I can choose format/data ranges - I am given two options: data range and data series but that doesn't give me the screen you suggested. It just provides column B and Y values. Can you please tell me how to get to the screen with line properties?

Double click exactly on the line.

Double click on the chart to put it in edit mode and then double click on the line of the data series to get the dialog shown in JeJe's post.

Great! I was able to make the line thinner. When I print the chart in landscape mode there is a lot of blank space to the left and right of the chart. I'd prefer to eliminate that space so there is more room to make the line graph longer. Can you tell me how to do that? Thanks so much for sticking with me on this.

I selected the menu item Format -> Page and on the Page tab set the orientation to Landscape and the Left and Right margins to 0.49". I closed that dialog and singled clicked on the graph. I dragged the middle right green handle to just past the right edge of column K. I selected the cells A697:L730 and selected the menu Format -> Print Ranges -> Define.
If I look at the expected print output in the menu File -> Page Preview, the graph takes up most of the width of the page.

That worked great. Two more small questions please then I hope to leave you alone. I eliminated some data so now it shows every week from 12/6/21 to the pressent instead of 10/6/08 to the present but now for some reason the line graph shows quarterly rather than weekly data. Can you tell me how to get back to the weekly data? And finally can I get rid of the words Column B in the middle of the graph?
