[Solved] File → Export → PNG cuts off picture's right side

Post by fretlessman71 »

I am creating a design for a T-shirt, and the printer wants a .png file.

I select all items in the drawing area with Ctrl-A, then File > Export, then choose ".png", and a new dialog appears.

I have tried messing with the width and height, but that REALLY seems to confuse OpenOffice.

Leaving it as is gives me a file, but what I end up with is a picture that is missing the right 1/2" of the picture. Like someone took a scissors and cut off a 1/2" strip off the right side. Left side looks fine.

Compression is at 9, Interlaced and Save Transparency are both ticked.

Can't upload a file or pic because I can't make the files small enough.

What could I be doing wrong, and how can I get a .png file with my entire picture?

Please upload a small, ODF (.odg) type sample file here.
And try the LibreOffice.

I literally don't know how to save a smaller version of the file.

In the export dialog, have you checked the Selection option bottom of the dialog?

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the 🖉 button if your issue has been fixed.

Your forum signature says you use MacOS. I will assume that this information is correct. On MacOS you use ⌘A, not Ctrl-A, to select all items.

Size the window and the document to take as much as the screen as possible, but ensure that the entire design, including the part wihch was missing, is visible on your screen. Capture a screenshot with MacOS. This action will save the screen image as a PNG file. See Finder → Help → Search → Screenshot → Topic → Take screenshots on Mac. The exact title of the help topic varies with different versions of MacOS. I would use ⌘⇧F5 to capture the screen image. You can edit the PNG file with Preview.

Another way to save an image of the screen is to use Preview → File → Take screenshot → From selection, use ⌘Tab or Mission Control to select the OpenOffice application, and drag Preview's screenshot cursor across the T-shirt. When you finish the drag, the image is loaded in Preview where you can save it as a PNG file. I find the ⌘⇧F5 method to be easier.

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the Subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.
