Resurrecting dead thread, but my issue occurred until I stopped recording changes to the spreadsheet, in addition to unprotecting the document.

You resurrected a 14 years old thread. That means that your problem may be similar, but that it's probably caused by something new. Please state your problem and upload a sample file showing the problem (unless it contains very sensitive personal data, of course). We can then view it and see if we can reproduce your issue. If we can't, it may be something with your user profile or installation.
