[Solved] Hide rows when printing

Post by phil.anthony »

Hi I have a spreadsheet showing what events are happening on dates past and upcoming.

Is it possible to do a print keeping the heading but ignore certain lines between that and the next live entry?

HEADING

Jan 1st stuff (Ignore on print)
Feb 3rd stuff (Ignore on print)
Mar 30th Stuff (Print)

Hope that makes it clearer

The easiest solution is probably to hide the rows you don't want to print. Select some cells in the rows you want to hide then select the menu item Format -> Row -> Hide. When you want to unhide the rows, select cells on each side of the hidden rows and select Format -> Row -> Show.

If you have a column of dates, you could use Data → Filter → Standard Filter to only show rows with future dates. Before using any filter, it is best to use Data → Define Range to tell Calc what cells should be considered as a set of related data so the filter knows what rows in the set to display and, when you are done printing, which hidden rows to re-show. If you need any additional assistance attach a spreadsheet demonstrating the situation (remove confidential information then use Post Reply, not Quick Reply, and don't attach a picture instead of the spreadsheet itself). I will not help further unless you attach.

Ten concepts that every Calc user should know, especially 3. Dates in cells

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the Subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.
