How does OpenOffice compare to Microsoft Office?

Post by nehavilash »

How does OpenOffice stack up against Microsoft Office in terms of features, compatibility, and user experience? Are there notable differences in performance or functionality that users should consider when choosing between the two office suites? Additionally, how does OpenOffice address document interoperability and collaboration, and are there specific advantages or drawbacks compared to Microsoft Office in these aspects? Lastly, what user feedback or industry insights highlight the strengths and potential areas for improvement for both OpenOffice and Microsoft Office?
I'm queries abut these things so please let me know.

Thank you.

Is suggest you to compare the LibreOffice and the MSO.

And here is a comparison of the native file format of the AOO/LO (ODF) and the MSO (OOXML):

Tibor Kovacs, Hungary; LO7.5.8 /Win7-10 x64Prof.
PortableApps/winPenPack: LO3.3.0-7.6.2;AOO4.1.14
Please, edit the initial post in the topic: add the word [Solved] at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.

Document interoperability is ensured by the use of open standards. ODF is one of them (AOO/LO default format), it is ISO-certified. OOXML (MS Office .docx...) is not really one. There is one flavor that has been ISO certified but MS Office use a custom flavor that still relies on old features not really documented IIRC.

Your question is too wide and there is plenty of discussions about that (including in this forum). Not willing to be rude, do your homework and ask precise questions.

You would be better off using LibreOffice instead of OpenOffice. There are several good reasons for this some which are given here: [Tutorial] Considering a Switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice? Some Useful Information
Windows 10 Pro. x64
LibreOffice (Still) 7.6.5.2 (x64) Fully installed to system
LibreOffice (Still) Portable 7.6.5.2 (x86) [PortableApps]
