Unable to open files recovered from crash

Post by Evelyn67 »

Oh no! Experienced a laptop crash, got a new SSD installed, and recovered files – hooray! However, now facing a challenge with opening documents, greeted by special characters instead of text. The "ASCII Filter Options" box pops up, but despite adjustments, the issue persists. Seeking advice to retrieve work. Grateful for any help!

Files that trigger the ASCII Filter Options are always damaged beyond repair. You can post one here if you want someone to confirm that. To post a file, click Post Reply and look for the Attachments tab just below the box where you type a response.

Recovered files from what? A previous hard-disk drive (HDD)? Or, a previous Solid-state Drive (SSD)?
