I thought it would start normally, but an error message appears and it doesn't start. When I try to start OpenOffice, the title appears once and then disappears, making it impossible to use OpenOffice. I'm a newbie to Ubuntu, so I'm completely stuck here, and I don't know what to do, so I posted here. Please let me know how I can use it normally. thank you.

Not on my xubuntu machine right now so can't check but maybe you have deleted too much when doing the "sudo rm -rf /usr/local/bin/" command. There is no need to delete anything with the rm command, even when uninstalling LO. Using rm on a system directory like /usr is very dangerous.
Are you able to run all the other standard applications installed on your system?
You should read some tutorial about commands in Linux before running lines you find on the net.

Why use AOO instead of LO anyway? AOO is walking dead, LO works very well on GNU/Linux.

Sorry for using Japanese on an English-only bulletin board.

thank you for your reply. I'm not good at English, so I use Google's translation function to convert Japanese to English and post here. There may be some strange wording, so please forgive me.

My Ubuntu seems to be working normally. But I may have deleted too many files, so I'm considering reinstalling it.

I've been using ApacheOpenOffice as a Windows application for a long time, and I wanted to continue using it if possible, so I decided to install it on Ubuntu. There is also the worry that changing the application will cause the form to collapse when a file created in the past is displayed or printed.

LibreOffice's update speed and functionality are impressive. If ApachOpenOffice continues to decline, I think we will have to seriously consider switching applications.

Since both applications use ODF, you can be sure that the files won't collapse. LO even now uses the 1.3 version of ODF. Few chances that AOO does so seeing the rate of development.
Just give it a try and you will see. It is possible to install both version in Ubuntu but requires some knowledge.

I am relieved to hear from Hagar Delest that ODF files are not a concern. Thank you.

I opened the URL provided by RoryOF and followed the instructions there to install ApacheOpenOffice on an Ubuntu system that had just been installed. As a result, I was able to see ApacheOpenOffice starting successfully. thank you.

After that, I became curious about the reason why ApacheOpenOffice did not start properly, so I looked into it. I proceeded with the work to get it closer to the previous state, and when ApacheOpenOffice could no longer start, I investigated various things and found that the cause was the four font files in the font folder.

The four files that caused the error are Sitka.ttc , SitkaB.ttc , Sitkal.ttc , and SitkaZ.ttc.

Thanks to everyone, I was able to find a solution. thank you very much. :D

As a quick solution, I suggest you uninstall the .ttc fonts, then find and install .ttf versions of them.
