[Issue] Libre Toolbar Colors Too Dark

Post by NotLeftBehind »

Hello. I am not sure how this happened. I did the latest update to 7.4.4.2 (64b) on W11. As I used documents tonight, I found in both Calc and Writer that the toolbars are too dark. I went online looking and and my color options that I can find are on defaults.

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/qim5zrsexejeq/libre

I did not change any color schemes prior and was just doing a spreadsheet this morning without seeing a color issue. I tried changing themes in the images provided, but nothing helped get the fonts easier to read again.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Can't access your screenshot due to corporate limitation (make it smaller than 128KB so that you can upload it here).
Try to reset your Open/LibreOffice user profile, just to check if the whole installation has an issue or only one of your settings. In latter case, that will give you some hints where to look at. In the Tools > Options > LO >Personalization perhaps.

To post an attachment/file to the forum do the following:
  1. Look at the text-box (aka message-box) into which you would normally enter your 'Reply' text.
  2. Below the text-box you will see a button titled Full Editor & Preview. Click on that button.
  3. A new text-box will appear with a lot of useful buttons on top for replies. There is a button there for adding a URL to your reply, should you need to do so. Hover over the buttons to see what functionality they provide.
  4. Look below that text-box and you will see two tabs: Options and Attachments. Click on the Attachments tab.
  5. Now you can add your attachment to your reply. Maximum file size 128 KiB per attachment.
  6. If your attachment is too large then use a file sharing site like MediaFire or similar. Upload your file to the sharing site then make a link in your reply to the file on the sharing site.
P.S. Do not include sensitive or highly personal information in your attachment.

Try to disable skia and/or hardware acceleration.
Else, it may help: [Solved] Visibility issues, Windows 8 Toolbar & Format-bar.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the 🖉 button if your issue has been fixed.

As I went doing that, my menus are readable again. Is Libre set to do some night time mode somehow? My computer is not (night light). Wonder if that is a factor?

Anyways, I had to look up what skia is and I went ahead and disabled it, and then hardware acceleration.

Will report back tonight/tomorrow on any changes.

Thanks.

I don't think there is a night mode in LO.
As usual, that's when you ask the question, especially when you take time to provide plenty of details (thanks for the screenshots) that it just works afterward, for no reason at all.

Interesting how I could not see the menus the other night. Did nothing and they looked fine the next morning (yesterday). Did the changes yesterday morning. Still fine now.
I might play around more with this later because I did no changes for it to appear fine yesterday morning (before the mentioned changes in settings).
Just happy I can see the menus tonight.
Time will tell?
Thanks!

I don't think there is a night mode in LO.
Maybe it is a feature of the operating system of the laptops and tablets?

Is interesting it has not happened again since.
Maybe you all scared my installation to behave correctly.
Will consider this matter closed for the time being.
Thank you, all.

Libre Toolbar Colors Too Dark

Post by NotLeftBehind »

And it is happening again. Was fine until this moment when I was correcting a word. Was fine last night when I was using it. Started typing a document about a bird right now (437p EST, daylight, yuk) and the toolbar darkness appeared when I was spell checking.

See this bug:

Bug 151756 - Menu text almost invisible in Windows 10 dark mode (after sleep or when display connected) (see comment 9)

Per Comment 10, either enable experimental features in LO 7.4 (Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Advanced) or upgrade to LO 7.5.

You marked the topic "Solved-ish" with no explanation. Did you try one of the solutions? If so, did it work?
