I am attempting to create CD-ROM labels with Writer. I select "File>New>Labels," which opens the Labels dialogue box. For "Brand," I select "Avery Letter Size;" For "Type," I select "5931 White CD/DVD Labels for Lasers (face)," then press "New Document" button.
The resulting document has no resemblance to the Avery label form. I check the page format, and find that a User page format has been defined with garbage dimensions and margins.
Anyone have any success printing CD labels in Writer? Any recommendations?
Running OOO ver. 2.4.0 under openSUSE 11.0.
Thanks for any assistance.

Re: Problem with Avery 5931 CD Label
Most (maybe all) of the label page layouts have page sizes and right/bottom margins that don't exactly match the sheets. The odd sizes are used to make the labels fit properly on the page. It's the left and top margins that must match the label stock. The resulting document has no resemblance to the Avery label form. I check the page format, and find that a User page format has been defined with garbage dimensions and margins.
It's also possible that there's an error in the label data, with a layout completely different than the actual product.
Maybe you could give us a little more specific information. Do you have the actual layout dimensions for the label stock?

In Version 3.0 under windows I don't see "User" under format. I see the actual label dimensions as expected. The new document looks funny but I didn't try to print.

Re: Problem with Avery 5931 CD Label
Ugh. I should have just tried it. Good point.
Under Linux, I get "garbage" too: the page width is set to ~2x10" for some reason... Is that what you're seeing too?
It seems to be ok if I just manually change the page size to 8.5" wide.
If you save that as your template, you can just start with the template next time and you won't have to change the page width again.

World Labels has an equivalent at http://www.worldlabel.com/Templates/wl-ol5075OOv2.htm. There templates are typically table based and you can use them with out using the Files---->New--->Labels wizard. This one opens in Draw.
