[Solved] Recovery of document is in a constant loop

Post by Jampit »

I had this problem when trying to fix the 'underlined wavy line' spelling problem. When I fixed that (thanks) I must have placed a copy of the file down in the py area. I kept getting 'cannot restore file 'x,odt.odt ' (note the repetition of odt.) I got rid of this by dumping the source folder (with an odd suffix which I cannot remember) into the recycle bin. No more ' cannot restore!! BUT I have to re register AOO each time I open any AOO file. I have tried reinstalling 4.1.13 to no effect. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Try to reset your OpenOffice user profile.

Note that now LibreOffice is much more actively developed. It may better suit your needs. And have less of such problems.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the 🖉 button if your issue has been fixed.

If you have to "register each time" that suggests that you do not have write permissions to the folder which contains your OpenOffice User Profile, or that the existing User Profile (perhaps only file registrymodifications, xcu) is marked Read-Only.

Where is my 'User Profile'? When I click on the link to Reset your Openoffice user profile, I get a 'not private 'error and can't go any further. (Hagar)
File x.xcu seems to be missing. (RoryOF)
