Need to add two section: Edges and Center.

Post by Mellow03 »

If you add it, but it is not clear since the end and center part, when clicking check for the end, it doesn't show the end only, same with the center, and if there is the center, so it is only the edges. So, need three things of two primary, the primary is center and edge, and of the center and the edge is the end or center only, so can be either one. So, the center is the center between arrows, and the center is between the edge, but that is those under the edges. In the arrow part and the line part, in which I put ends and center, the line part does show only from the edge, but not the center. Well, there are two edges that are a horizontal edge and a vertical edge, which horizontal is an arrow at the front and any section of the back, and above and below the center is the edge that is a line. So, lines and center are for edge only, so it is misleading because it says center but no center but edge, so it is center but that is between the arrow tip. So, need to add as mentioned above. And of course to add to other programs that have drawing function for edge and end for any objects to be added. The point you add arrow and lines, well, that is clearly yes, but the arrow is misleading as a line so is the line, so no two sections for lines and arrow. For the arrow, the center can be decreased, same with the edge, but not the central part of not the arrow, but the lines which are between the arrow, so the lines of edges and center.

Sorry!

I am unable to visualize what you are describing, and to understand what (if anything) you are asking about.
  • Could you add some graphic to your description?
Sometimes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
  • Are you asking for help to align, combine or split drawn objects?
We can most likely help with that.
  • Are you asking for better functionality for stuff like alignment and line transitioning? Center/axis alignment of lines/objects? Sharp/round/bevel corners on composite line types?
For this, you should address the bug tracker, which also handles enhancement requests.
Note that there has been little development done on OpenOffice lately. Addressing the LibreOffice team is more likely to be fruitful

https://www.screencast.com/t/SaDECTPmn, the arrow and the lines doesn't means it really mean that is lines and arrow, since the arrow change the edge and the lines change the edge, so it doesn't make the line narrow or expand, same with arrow doesn't make it smaller or bigger, just edge, but not the center which can be changed.

The settings you edit in the screencast, are for line arrows. The arrow you are editing is not a line arrow, but a sort of composite object: a "block arrow" which consists of a line surrounding a surface. Line arrow settings do not apply as expected to a surface-defining line. (Try by drawing a simple line, and make the same changes on that. You will notice.)

The block arrows are not just mere point-to-point drawings, but "smart objects". See the yellow handles?
  • The handle at the arrowhead adjusts the angle on the circumference of the arrow-circle where the arrowhead starts, and it also adjusts the width of the curved arrow shaft. The arrowhead size will to some degree follow the width of the shaft.
  • The one at the end of the shaft is for adjusting where on the circumference the arrow shaft begins.
  • For smart objects, the "edit points" option is not available, and AFAIK there is no option to change arrowhead shape for your arrow unless you first convert it to a polygon (which will allow editing of individual points). There is no easy way to convert from polygon and back to the smart object again.
For other smart objects, the yellow handle(s) allow adjustment of other properties (radius of rounded corners, happiness of smiley, moon's phase).

Ok, your explanation needs to be seen and simple you say that is video is worth thousands of words, so, ya can make a video so the picture is worth thousands of pictures, well, either make a video or picture section so how to make it work. Since there is a way to change by your statement the polygon, but not back, then ya need to add to make it easier, so the object can be changed, not the edge since the edge is part of an object, not the object itself, so need to add the section with edges and center that is changing the object, which the edge will change that is an arrow to smaller or bigger, and same with the center, so it will be smaller or bigger. One section that is already there: Edges and Center, but another section that is not there that is objected to being altered, so object alternation or something. To add to the section of the menu for the lines. You have three sections of menu lines, then add one more section as mentioned above.

I do not quite understand what that means.
  • Do you just make a general observation about the "thousand words" expression and how it applies to video?
  • Are you asking for a video showing how to perform the conversion operation I mentioned previously?

"Ya need to" implies an obligation of mine/ours.

There is nothing we, the forum user, "need" to do. We "choose" to ask whenever we need help, and to answer if we see it fit.

This place is not a company support portal.

This place is a peer-to-peer forum where we are all users.

Simple car analogy:
  • We didn't make the car.
  • We know a little about how to drive it.
  • We like to share our knowledge.
  • Need to pull a trailer with it? We have no idea how to add a trailer hitch.
Some developers may also visit here, but ...
  • This forum is not the place for requesting development of the software. See the bugtracker instead (it is for both bug reports and feature requests)
  • Currently there is little done by way of development on OpenOffice. You may want to look at LibreOffice instead. That is still evolving, to some degree.

Some old YouTube howto-videos to get you going

How to work with block arrows (no audio, but the "yellow handle operations" are shown, just follow closely).

How to convert objects to other type (polygon or curve, with differences clearly explained).
This was made in LibreOffice as the video title says, but at the time of recording (~10 years ago) LibreOffice and OpenOffice were virtually the same.
