[Solved] Invisible typing

Post by ilyazeld »

I have a text document, in which I typed and edited 5 pages. I opened and saved it several times and every time I was able to work on it. Recently, however, I was unable to add a new typing at the end of this document: when I type, the invisible cursor moves with invisible text. I've checked the Properties and the Read-only box is unchecked. The color of the ink is Black. I still can insert text anywhere in the document, but at the bottom. The file is *.odt

What happened? How to fix this problem?

If the cursor is invisible, then how do you know it's moving? If you double-click the invisible text does it become visible and highlighted? Have you tried using CTRL-M to remove any direct formatting from the invisible text?

Bill, you're right on both counts! Sure, the cursor is visible, my mistake. And CTRL-M restored sanity! But can you guess, or do you know, what was wrong and how it happened? I'd rather prevent it in the future...
Thanks a lot for your help!

I think the type colour had been overridden and set to the same colour as the page background. That would not show up in the main styles definition, as it was a direct formatting setting.
