Over the last week or so I had created a spreadsheet with multiple sheets and colour coded sections and a fair bit of data.
I have come to it today to find there is just a single sheet with a really old version of the content.
Ive searched the laptop multiple times but cant find anything, nor in the trash bin
Any ideas to get it back.. its a nearly new laptop

Re: Lost the recent version of my csv file
Welcome to the Forums.
First off, is it a .csv file or a .ods spreadsheet? The difference, as far as your actual question is irrelevant, however a .csv file will not save multiple sheets and formatting, in which case you've lost a lot of unrecoverable work.
If it's a .ods spreadsheet, try the suggestions in this tutorial
Actually, trying those suggestions even if the file is a .csv might help a bit.

Re: Lost the recent version of my csv file
Hi it was a csv. I wasn't aware the sheets would get deleted , there really should have been a warning pop up telling me else Id have happily kept it in original openoffice format.
Ive gone through all this, and the checks in that thread, and now tried recuva..
Thanks, but its not proved fruitful.

Saving as .csv saves only the values in the cells on Sheet 1. Why did you not read the warning? Or have you cancelled the warning - it is switched on when you install AOO?shaunbaird wrote:Over the last week or so I had created a spreadsheet with multiple sheets ...

Did you ignore the next warning, which cannot be cancelled, saying only the current active sheet has been saved?
See [Tutorial] Differences between Writer and MS Word files for a description of differences and for why you should always work in, and save Calc files as .ods.
See [Tutorial] How to find and un-delete AOO temporary files for detailed instructions on how to
a) use Previous Versions (W7 and later) to recover previous versions of the file (is there something similar on MacOS and Linux?);
b) recover your file as it was when you last opened or saved it, or as it was when it was last saved with AutoRecovery;
c) find previous versions of the file in the folder it is located in, but which have since been deleted;
d) find any temporary files AOO wrote while you were editing the file but which have not yet been deleted;
e) un-delete the temporary files AOO wrote while you were editing the file, and then deleted. d) and e) will recover your file as it was when you last opened or you last saved it.
If you have never saved the file with multiple sheets as a .ods or .xsl AOO will never have written temporary files.
If you cannot follow the instructions ask someone with more PC skills to help you. Act quickly - the longer you wait the more likely any temporary files are to be deleted.
