[Solved] Highlight MIN/MAX values with cond. formatting
[Solved] Highlight MIN/MAX values with cond. formatting
I'm having trouble with conditional formatting in a spreadsheet. I want the MIN value in select, nonadjacent cells to have a highlight background one color and Max value a different color. I thought I understood this and I almost have what I want, but the spreadsheet does not seem to recognize that I want the conditional formatting to only be the cells I designate. As it is now the cells adjacent to the specified cells are also conditionally formatted. Here is my input "$BK3:$CI3=MAX($BK3;$BQ3;$BW3;$CC3;$CI3)". What am I doing wrong?

Re: Conditional formatting
Select the range you want to format conditionally.
Notice the active cell within the selection. Let's say it is BK3.
Call the conditional formatting dialog. It applies to the active cell only, copying the settings to the whole selection.
Choose a cell style and "Formula Is:" $BK3=MAX($BK3;$BQ3;$BW3;$CC3;$CI3)

Re: Conditional formatting
That didn't work for me. It conditionally formatted every cell in the line. I'm using OpenOffice 4.1.7 and Windows 10.

Re: Conditional formatting
In order to expand this cond. format, select the range in question with the active cell having the c.f. Call the dialog and hit OK.
