Moving sheets w/o losing formatting

Post by musictatter »

I am needing to move a sheet to another file. When I do I lose all the formatting. Background colors, size, comments, etc. Is there a way to save that while moving a sheet?

Added: I am a curator of a cemetery and have created a map with TONS of information. I am learning as I create these sheets. But I need to combine files to simplify the information for future volunteers.

Thank you so much!

I have just now tested - this kept the formulas and background colours of my original.

If you have tons of information a database may be a better solution.

If you persist with a spreadsheet you find it sensible to protect some? many? all? cells with data against change.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.

Would loss of formatting be due to the file format? Save as .ods and try again.

Because of privacy of the names I'll have to change some things first.

While you're anonymizing the data, help for which can be found in [Forum]How to attach a document also please note that we don't need all of the spreadsheet, just enough that the sheet you upload also shows the same problem.
