How to unlock a doc without a password?

Post by apollosg »

Hey ya'll! SO I have this awesome problem that has been giving me... well problems. I wrote a story about 12 years ago (when I was young and dumb) and thinking I was smart I locked the doc... now 12 years later I found the doc, but I have not a clue as to what the password is.

Is there any possible way to unlock the doc without a password? Thank you for your time and effort! :)

Yes. You must guessing the password.

(Sorry for the joke.)

What a file format that document has?

Please, edit the initial post in the topic: add the word [Solved] at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.

No.

Search the Writer forum with password for possible methods which may work. eg see Unable to open p/word protected file anymore
LO 6.4.4.2, Windows 10 Home 64 bit

See the Writer Guide, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and Writer for students.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.

If you think you remember the password, be aware that passwords are case sensitive and it is worth trying the various case options. To crack an OpenOffice password with no starting point may tie your computer up for days and may not succeed.
