OpenOffice calc forgets my font size settings

Post by TheMotorcycleBoy »

Hi people,

I'm using the OpenOffice Calc program which I'm very impressed it. One thing however which is a little annoying is that it seems get my Default Style font size wrong.

When creating financial spreadsheets I like to work with Arial at size 8. It just works best on my screen and with my work flow. I have set my Styles->Manage Styles->Default setting to use this family and size. However, whenever I create a new page, Calc resets my size to 10. I frequently find myself then having to "Select all" the page, and go to the Font button on the toolbar in order to reset back to 8. I also find that sometimes whilst I'm adding new rows, columns that they too will be created using size 10, not size 8 which I've defaulted to.

Is this a known bug, which can be fixed?

Many thanks,
Matt

In which format do you Save? If not using .ods, try that.

Hi,

I'm using .xlsx - which I'd like to remain using, since it offers me maximum flexibility to reopen my sheets (after uploading them to DropBox) on any device.

Being a software engineer myself, this issue seems orthogonal to that of the file format in which the work is saved.

thanks Matt

Your software is not Apache OpenOffice, but that is LibreOffice.

Always work in the native, international standard ODF file formats (.ods for the spreadsheets). It was developed for the long time compatibility.

Try altering your default template.

Adjusting a style will modify the style of the actual document only.
You must adjust the properties of the Default Template, as RoryOF suggested it.
