[Solved] OpenOffice as my default

Post by snits »

Solved...Dear OpenOffice..I recently got a new HP laptop that has Windows 10 Home Premium as its platform. It is replacing the old one I had that finally gave itself up. I don't want to use Microsoft's Office and have installed OpenOffice 4.1.6 and would like to make it my default as I had it on my old laptop, but it was Windows 8 and easy to set up. Windows 10 seems to be all about apps and I can't seem to find anything about making my OpenOffice my default that doesn't deal with apps.

Can someone direct me to a link that could help me or explain how to make 4.1.6 my default.

Thanks very much in advance.

The Windows 10 terminology can be confusing. Search for Choose default apps by file type and you should find the right place in Settings to make OpenOffice the default program (app) for your files.
