[Solved] How do I create multiple page PDF's?

Post by Signal »

I have created a single page text ducument with the relevant tables and images text that I want, I now want to duplicate this page multiple times changing just the text for each page but I can't see how to duplictae the page or create new pages. How do I achieve this? The final document needs to be a PDF with multiple pages.

Many thanks

One way; insert a manual page break where needed; Insert | Manual Break and click Page Break if it isn't already selected. This will start a new page. Then copy the tables etc that you need to duplicate and paste them in the new page. Add the changed text.

Repeat as necessary until you have the number of pages you want, then export as PDF.

Is there a way to group all the various elements (images, tables text etc) together so as to be able to copy and paste them all at once? When I try to shift click more than one object the page jumps to the start and un selects the object, in addition the group boxes are all greyed out.

Edit | Select All or Ctrl+A Note; this works in pretty much any application.

Its not letting me select more than one object with either the select tool + shift click or the (select all) drop down option.

Make sure you don't have an object active, i.e. with the green handles around it; press Esc to exit the object, then Ctrl+Home to go to the top of the document and then try Ctrl+A

No luck I'm afraid, lets try it step by step, I have a new text document open as default. In it I add say two frames. Why cant I select them both simaltiniously? neither the select tool, shift click, select all or drag select allow me to do this.

I'm ging to start this as a new question incase you havent seen it.

You will find much useful information in the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials, the up to date Writer guide and the Writer Manual. May I suggest you bookmark the pages.

Press F1 to access the Help screen and search for your problem

The chapter headings in the manual are:

1 - Introducing Writer
2 - Setting up Writer
3 - Working with Text
4 - Formatting Pages
5 - Printing, Exporting, Faxing and E-Mailing
6 - Introduction to Styles
7 - Working with Styles
8 - Working with Graphics
9 - Working with Tables
10 - Working with Templates
11 - Using Mail Merge
12 - Tables of Contents, Indexes and Bibliographies
13 - Working with Master Documents
14 - Working with Fields
15 - Using Forms in Writer
16 - Customizing Writer – Keyboard shortcuts.

When a pop-up window opens, click the Help button for extensive help on that function - it is often more comprehensive than the manual.
