Saving to a tab delimited text
I can save to a csv file. Then I change the csv extension to txt Then I open the file in Writer. I am unable to convert the commas to tabs in find replace dialog box. Find is , and replace is \t. It doesn't work for me.

Click the More Options button in the Find & Replace dialog and make sure Regular Expressions is selected.
You can also make a tab delimited file directly from Calc. Choose Save As and set the file type to CSV. There should now be a check box near the bottom of the dialog that says something like Edit Filter Settings. Select that and continue with the save process. You will reach a dialog where you can set the field delimiter to tab.
