[Solved] Window size
[Solved] Window size
is there a way of setting the window size of a form - I have a database which is my address/contacts 'book', when I view the form the window is always a little to short (height-wise) and covers the bottom couple of fields, it is not a big deal resizing the window, but would be more 'elegant' if the window opened the right size!!

Re: Window size
On Linux at least, OOo remembers the window size that was last used. But that is an application setting, not a document setting. There's no way to specify a window size for a specific document, however each OOo document stores it's last view parameters: zoom and position.
Under X (Linux/Unix), the window size is set through the window manager. In the old days, you could specify a default window size for a specific type of window using X resources. I'm not sure whether newer WMs still support that, but they may have some other way to configure it.

Re: Window size
well my form window always opens in same position and size (a little too short!!) even though I resize it and perhaps move it to a different position on screen!!

Re: Window size
Open the form in edit mode (right-click>Edit), resize, save form, close form, save database, open form.

Re: Window size [SOLVED]
1) Writer does remember window position and size after a close then open
2) thanks for edit process, that worked with the addition of a couple of stages
Open the form in edit mode (right-click>Edit), resize, save form, close form, save database, close database, open database, open form
Thanks for help and advice - I'm happy with my address/contact 'book' now!!

Re: Window size [SOLVED]
Nice to know; thanks for the follow up!
Just so I'm sure I understand: this procedure saves the size of the form window specifically, or is it Writer's window size that's saved? If you open a new Writer window, resize that and save the document, then exit OOo and restart, will the form still open with the size you set for it, or will it use the new window size?

Re: [Solved] Window size
@banjoman,
No, I don't have to reload the database. Could be due to my version beeing newer than yours.
@acknak,
Seemingly the size and position is restored from the form's view-settings in archive-file/forms/Obj11/settings.xml.

Open OOo and reposition, resize that launcher-window before invoking a program. That's it!
