[Solved-Workaround] Too less number of rows

Post by gorinw10 »

I use excel file more than thousands of rows and uninstalled open office immediately after installing because it does not support my file. Excel supports 65536 rows. And some free office alternatives too.

If you add this option you might increase your userbase.

Hello,
you should update (to AOO4.1 or LO). Then you have 1.048.576 rows.

The OpenOffice.org 3.1 is an archaic old version. Where you found it?

Please install (not upgrade) a recent version of LO or AOO

I guess I made a crucial mistake in my question. I meant columns. Yes. Microsoft Office supports 65.536 columns but open office does not. I can not use files with large numbers of columns. There must be lots of people like me. May be open office might be losing userbase from there and there things like that? Is it hard to code more columns - or any other reason for that? Some other free office alternatives use that much columns.

My opinion only: If you need more than 100 columns for a spreadsheet, then you should strongly consider using a database instead.

May I ask what you are doing that you need that many columns?

I tend to agree with RusselB that anything with that many columns is not something that should be done in a spreadsheet. Depending on what you are doing a data base may be a much better tool but there may be other software that will do what you need.
