Crash Calc graphics

Post by rbappelbaum »

I am experiencing frequent crashes in Calc spreadsheet while drawing line graphics. I thought that maybe my file was too large so reduced it to 2 small sheets, still crashes unless I save every few key strokes. OO 4.1.6 on Win 10. I don't remember having this problem with earlier version. An early version of this file was saved as .xls and then back to .ods.

An early version of this file was saved as .xls and then back to .ods.
- Try your file with the Libreoffice (at least a portable verion of the LO)
- Try your file and the AOO on an another operationg system (for example Win7, or some linux. You can try it with a LiveCD of some Linux distribution without installing the operating system and the LibreOffice)
- Try to recreate a new sample spreadsheet document in the native .ods format. Do not store your important documents in an obsolete, never standardized file format, like the binary .xls file format.

Can you upload the problematic file here?

I started a new file with nothing copied from old file and it still crashes every few key strokes while doing graphics. Now it crashes ever time I click on Support. No problem as long as I am just doing text or numbers.

What "Support" do you mean?" Where you clicked in the Calc application? On the menu item under the HELP menu?

I can't imagine how this menu item may be related to the crashing.

If yo use Libreoffice, maybe the localised HELPs are not installed.

Or maybe something went wrong in your AOO installation.
Try to reset your AOO user profile, or ty to make a CLEAN reinstall. The "clean reinstall" means: delete all of rest content of the AOO user profile and the APP program directory after the regular uninstall, but before you reinstall the AOO.

After uninstall of AOO and deletion of user profile, would it be better to install LibreOffice 6.0.7? Would all of my .ods and .odt file created under AOO be accessible?

It is your choice. I prefer the LO.

Yes.
