How can I solve this issue?

This problem has been reported as a bug - please see [Issue] Check for Updates feature fails
It is currently being investigated by the development team; you can always manually download the latest version, 4.1.6 from the download link at the bottom of this page.

Thank you, I did that manual download. I hope it replaces the one already installed and does not leave traces of it as well.

Don't forget that after the download you need to double click the downloaded file and install it.

Thank you. I run the programs though instead of saving them so they install right away when I click the link.
