Spreadsheet background color is black, not what I set it to

Post by antfaber »

I just installed open office on a new computer that I have a black theme on. When I open a spreadsheet, the background color in every cell is black and, in existing spreadsheets, my choices for background color have been overridden. What do I change to make the default background color white and to have it display the background colors I've chosen in cells where I have chosen a different background color.

Try changing the background and font colors in Tools > Options > OpenOffice > Appearance. If that doesn't work, try LibreOffice.

Sir that is not working for me. I have tried this thing. I have also tried LibreOffice. Can you please guide me.

It works for me using AOO 4.1.6 on Manjaro. If it doesn't work with OOo 3.1 on Vista., then I can only suggest that you stop using a black theme with open office or find out how to modify the theme so it doesn't change the background color.

I have a similar problem: I just changed the display screen on my laptop, and now Calc for OO4 has a different look and the cell colors on all my spreadsheets do not show (and I cannot get any background colors to show). This is the second time for this problem, but I cannot recall the fix for the last time (it was not a screen change). I can find no help for this on-line or on this site.

I don't know what you actually changed. Did you remove the old screen and replace it with a new one?

With a used one. Everything else seems fine with the new-used screen.

Sorry, but I can't imagine anything that would cause spreadsheet backgrounds to become black by just replacing a monitor screen. It sounds more like a coincidence to me.

I could understand a change between Black and White, as this is a byte inversion, but I would expect all other colours to invert also on all applications.

I think the OP should change the Windows theme to a non-dark theme as a temporary, fault-finding measure, to see if the problem persists.

Please download and try the attached file: A1 is black background and white text, B is White background and black text. B1 and A2 are set to have Gray6 background, no text.
