I have just discovered that if I create a new .csv file, it works OK.

The file is NOT unicode encoded. Switch from Unicode to "Western Europe" (Windows 1252)"

Opens fine on my AOO 4.1.6, even with character set unicode utf 8
OpenOffice 4.1.6 on Windows 10 x64

Yes, but the "Unicode" might refers to UTF-16. It is not a UTF-16 encoded file.merlijn wrote:Opens fine on my AOO 4.1.6, even with character set unicode utf 8

When you open the file you must specify what separators are being used.
Examining the file with Notepad shows it is using commas. So untick everything else, and tick comma.
This is it saved as a .odt.

Re: .CSV spreadsheets won't open in 4.6.1 SOLVED
Thanks for these replies. I have reopened the file and set the character set to Western European 1252 and it now works. Strange that somehow this got changed in all the ,csv files
