[Solved] Compatibility with MS PowerPoint?

Will open office presentation open in a powerpoint presentation?

If saved as a.odp file, possibly; if saved as a .ppt file, probably. There will be differences. If there are no transitions or effects a useful backup is to /File /Export as PDF, and use this PDF file for the presentation. Best to try your presentation privately on a computer running PowerPoint - avoids embarrassment in front of an audience - or bring a laptop running OpenOffice Impress and use that for the presentation.
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.6 on Xubuntu 18.04.3 (mostly 64 bit version) and very infrequently on Win2K/XP
