Hello all,
I'm new to Open Office and this forum and have experienced an issue with importing a short presentation in to a larger one and would appreciate some advice.
I have a short, 20 page, presentation created in .odp on my mac. When I open it on its own it launches fine and all the slides are as expected. I want to import this presentation in to another larger one, which was also created in OO and is saved as an .odp.
When I either copy and paste or drag and drop the smaller presentation in to the larger it appears with background formatting text all over each slide. An example of the added text is "Click to edit master title style", "Third outline level" etc. This text appears indented across the page. I can see that it says to 'click here' to change things but there's nothing to click.
I've tried using other presentation suites to open it and re-saving it with other file extensions but nothing seems to remove this formatting text.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks,
Andy

What happens if you use /Insert /File?
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.15 on Xubuntu 22.04.4 LTS

Hi Rory,
I hadn't tried that but just have. Same thing unfortunately. The added background text is still there.

What happens if you try to open the file (on its own) in your current OpenOffice?

Hi again,
It works fine. Opens immediately and without the additional text .
On the larger presentation, none of the other slides show it either.

Re: Formatting error. .odp
Try working backwards - can you import the larger presentation into the smaller, rather than the other way around?

Re: Formatting error. .odp
I suspect that a custom master slide was not being carried over, and replaced with a default master slide.

Re: Formatting error. .odp
I think you must be right Rory.
I've been able to import and wrap 240 slides around the smaller presentation and it all works fine.
Thanks very much for your help.
