Using Write ----- most times, after assigning a name (say Ford) to a document and then using the Save As command to file it, I then see "Ford" in the list that appears when I strike File\Recent Documents. But some times Ford does not appear there, even though I can find that document by striking File/Open/Ford (in the PC\Document folder).
What causes that? I'm puzzled. Why don't ALL files appear in the Recent Documents list?
Thanks for your help. ...wdc

The recent documents list has a maximum of 10 entries, which includes the most recent files that were opened for all aspects of OpenOffice.
If you want to see more entries in that list, you can try History Manager
I can not state if this will help with what you are wanting, especially as I don't use the extension, but I have seen it mentioned several times in forum recommendations.

You can set more than 10 item to the "Recent list" in the LibreOffice:
but... I do not remember how I did it...
I have not installed the History manager extension...
Maybe I did it in such way:

I think, 25 items in the drop-down list and on the start screen is the default.Zizi64 wrote:but... I do not remember how I did it...
I have not installed the History manager extension...
Go to Tools>Options>Advanced and push button "Expert configuration".
Enter "history" into the search box.
Under org.openoffice.Office.Common you find some interesting settings.
The actual history size is 100.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

1. Start > Search
2. Type *.odt and press enter
3. Click See more results.
You now have every *.odt file on your PC listed.
If you type zebra in the search box you will find all documents, spreadsheets, etc containing the word zebra, and all files with zebra in the file name.

Re: Why doesn't a Saved As document appear in the Recent lis
@John_Ha: That shows all files that matches the search, but it has no effect on the Recent Documents list under the File menu in the OpenOffice/LibreOffice suite(s), which is a specification from the OP

I was answering his or her implied but unwritten question "How do I find Ford.odt when it is not in the list?" I thought that more useful to him or her than "Because the list contains only the 10 most recently edited files". I added the bit about searching the contents of documents as most don't realise it is possible.
