When I clicked on check for updates, I got this message.

This has been reported as a bug

If you are using a version of AOO earlier than 4.1.5 you can download the current version from http://www.openoffice.org/download/

If you have 4.1.5 then you won't need to update at the moment; when a new version of AOO is released there will be a sticky topic posted in a number of the forums here to alert people to the new version - and hopefully this issue will be resolved with that new version.
