Getting the formatting right in report builder

I am just getting started with Sun's report builder. I have figured out how to add fields from the database by dragging and dropping from the add fields window.

However, I can't change the formatting. It inserts the label, then the data, like this:
Date of Hire (box with the data)

I want just the data from the db so I can put the labels above the data, or however I want to lay it out. How do I do this?

When you inserted field with label, clik out of them. When click back to any of them they will be separated and easily moved.
Use object resizing, align and align sections tollbar buttons to move fields and labels.
