[Solved] Corrupted file SAXParseException

Post by Martj »

Hello,

I've read through the forum here, having the same problem as many others here - getting the error "SAXParseException: '[word/document.xml line 2]: Attribute w:eastAsiaTheme redefined', Stream 'word/document.xml', Line 2, Column 130920(linha,col).

I've lived through different phases of crying and angry because I spent months working in this file! Can anybody help and save me? I am Brazilian and my English is not good enough to understand what I suppose to do.

RoryOF, Please, save me.

The file is attached.

Thank you sooo much!

I recovered 2430 pages, with some apparently empty tables. Try the attached file and see how well it has recovered.

For your future peace of mind, I suggest you install the Timestamped backup extension.

I'm getting nowhere with this file - I hope that is not a sign of how the rest of the day will go!

@Martj:
As nobody else here mentioned this so far:
-1- Don't miss to improve your backup strategy.
-2- Always use the native ODF formats (.odt, .ods, ...) for your "document under development", and save to alien formats only if urgently needed for export/delivery.
On Windows 10: LibreOffice 24.2 (new numbering) and older versions, PortableOpenOffice 4.1.7 and older, StarOffice 5.2

Analysis of the file shows multiple occurrences of two different errors:

1. The reported error was that w:eastAsiaTheme was redefined. There were three occurrences.

2. Once these repeats were deleted, checking the XML syntax showed further errors where w:cstheme was repeated. There were six or seven repeats throughout the file.

Once these had been deleted the XML syntax checker said the file was OK. Opening it showed 27 pages where the last words in the final table were "Passagem Bruges".

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.

Thank you so much, Robleyd, RoryOF, Lupp and John_Ha, you were incredible.
I really appreciated it. You have no idea how it was important to me.
From now on, I will follow the instructions that you gave me and be more careful.
