Corrupt file on LibreOffice

Post by Tyohke »

Hello everyone,

I have been working on a .odt file in LibreOffice which should have been a commentary I had to hand in today at 10am but when I tried to open it tonight to be sure everything was ok it showed only a bunch of ##### so I guess it is corrupted.
I tried my best to find a backup or such but wasn't able to and while looking for other options I ended up on this website and thought you might be able to help me !

Thanks a lot in advance.

The document contains no data - there is nothing recoverable from it. See [Tutorial] The Dreaded Pound Signs: file reduced to #### which will also lead you to [Tutorial] How to find and un-delete Writer temporary files.

Using the advice in those resources, you may be able to recover something.

For the future working:

Always create more than one backup copy about your important documents. I can propose the "timeStampBackup" extension for this task: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=86742&p=442486

Please, edit the initial post in the topic: add the word [Solved] at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.

I agree - I use that extension also; and normally remember to advise it in a case like this.
