Cannot open OO writer files from UNC directory

Post by Phil33 »

Hello,

When I use Windows Explorer to go to a shared directory using a UNC name (such as \\myserver\mydirectory for example), I can see my OO Writer files but they won't open when I double-click on them (it only works with a local directory or mapped drive such a Z:\my drive).

There is a similar post on this forum dated in 2008 that seems to indicate that it got fixed in version 3.1 :

I downloaded the latest version of OO (4.1.5). My tests are being performed on a Windows 2008 R2 server. Is there anything that I can do to make it work?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Regards,

Phil

https://libreoffice.org/ provides tools to connect and bookmark many types of network resources, e.g. menu:File>Open remote file...

Thanks for your answer but a switch to LibreOffice is not possible. I am looking for a solution with OpenOffice.

Map a drive letter to the UNC path.
