Index (mis)placement

Post by sfdavis1089 »

Different fonts (the worst being Cambria Math) position my subscripts/superscripts higher or lower than others. How can I nudge these indices to the same levels for all
fonts? I can be reached via « Deleted ».

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

The question seems to be similar to asking, in Writer, how one can construct a document whose page count will be identical for all fonts. That isn't possible, since spacing characteristics for letters, and thus their flow onto pages, depend on the font which is chosen.

In the Math component of OpenOffice, for a given font, you can adjust the spacing with Format → Spacing → Category → Indices. This allows you to specify the adjustment as a percentage. But the vertical position of the index on the page will depend on the font, since not all fonts are have same size.

The supplied attachment, because it is a picture, is not helpful.

Sorry. If the forum had taken files in MML format, I would have sent them earlier.

I tried out «MrProgrammer»'s recommendation. I'm also phasing out the offending, margin-laden font (Cambria) in favour of the more compact Lucida Sans Unicode.

For future reference, you could zip the mml file and upload that way.
