[Solved] Calculate Night Rate in time tracking

Post by Rodrigus »

Hi i'm a neewbie in OpenOffice but i'm trying to learn a bit more

My intention is track my work time that usualy start at 18h and end 04:00 but i got several times that i enter earlyer or late than 18:00
and the end is never 04:00 sometime is 02:00 or few times 08:00 or 09:00

My company pay me a night rate (an extra money) that goes beteewn 20:00 and 06:00 and i would like to separate the hours that i do between that interval of time
i'm using a calc sheet made by "Care 2 Shar care2share@calculatehours.com" and already made a few progresses but with my lak of aknowledge i'm stuck

when i start at earlyer, in time 18:00 or later i already manage to start counting after 20:00 , but when i leave later than 6:00 because is counting the hours after 06:00 and is not correct it should stop counting the night rate after 06:00.
I put in attach the file is not completed and someone check what is wrong

Thanks
Rodrigus

p.s- sorry my english but is not my natural language

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Read all of but especially section 4. Times in cells in Ten concepts that every Calc user should know. Clock times can be confusing because the value displayed in the cell is from midnight to midnight and never larger than 23:59:59, even when the value is larger than 1. Look at the formula bar, not the cell itself, to see the value.

Here's how you should do the calculations. Note that some cells contain an "adjusted" time, where the adjustment ensures that the value of the end time (which is in the next day) is larger than the value of the start time. In rows 6 and 7 the MEDIAN function is used to ensure that the time falls within the night rate period.
