Failed - error converting file. task did not complete within
Hi Team,
I am using OpenOffice 3.x to convert the HTML files into PDF.
Getting the below error for some of the html files.
failed - error converting file. task did not complete within timeout
It’s taking more time to convert and finally got failed. Is there a way how to find out what kind of issue in the HTML file?
Also, how to enable more logs in OpenOffice?
In our side, OpenOffice is installed in Linux env.
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
AOO is not brilliant with HTML files and it sounds like there is a problem with the HTML which AOO cannot resolve. Can you save as a .odt file? If so, save and then re-open the .odt file and try again.
Also, try Googling convert html and see what you get - zamzar may be able to do it. I quickly found

To convert HTML files to a PDF document, you'll just need to open and print to Win2PDF using any Windows browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.). First, open the HTML file or load the web site page in your browser window. Then select 'Print...' from the web browser's File menu.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply.
I renamed the file from .html to .odt, when I try to open the .odt file, getting the below error.
Cannot open file. Something went wrong and your file cannot be opened now. Please try again later.
Is there a way to enable the logs for AOO?
Thanks.

You cannot just change the qualifier from .htm to .odt. It's like taking the label off a tin of tomatoes, and replacing it with a label saying plums. The tin still has tomatoes inside it irrespective of what the label says!
Visit zamzar.com and upload the HTML file and ask it to zamzar to convert it to a PDF.

let me check with zamzar.com, looks this site is unavailable.
Is there a way to enable logs in AOO in Linux env? So that I can identify what kind of issue in the html file like that and why it is taking more time, finally it says failed - error converting file. task did not complete within timeout.

If I remember correctly you need a "development version" which produces logs.psubramanian wrote:Is there a way to enable logs in AOO in Linux env?

Start by looking at the LO equivalent of The Apache OpenOffice Wiki
If this solves the problem, please view your first post in this thread and click the Edit button (top right in the post) and add [Solved] in front of the subject.
