Exact Globe compatible with OOo?

Post by HenkOonk »

Welcome beginner. What is your question or comment?
Please try to briefly and clearly tell us: What you want, What you tried, and What happened.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exact Globe is a (primarily) accounting software application in the Netherlands and USA (but also in other copuntries in the world), their software interacts with MS Office and they claim it cannot interact that closely with OpenOffice. Does anybody know about whether this is true or is this a statement from a Microsoft preferred partner?

Kind regards,
Henk Oonk

It sounds like you think they don't know their own product.

OOo tries to be compatible with MS Office from the user's point of view, but the two office suites are completely different 'under the hood' -- how they're designed and how they work internally. I think it's safe to say that any third-party product that's designed to integrate with MS Office will not work with OOo unless some re-engineering is done.

In any case, it's never a bad idea to ask a vendor to support OOo, especially if it makes you a potential customer.

For a company to make a statement like that, it probably means they are sick of replying to direct questions along the lines of 'Will it work with openOffice.org?'. So, like Acknak, I would say the answer is no.

it might not be the reply you'd hoped for, but if your question has been answered please go to your first post, use the edit button and add [Solved] as the first word of the title. You can also select the green tick icon.

For those who do not understand dutch (for myself it works quite well, as I know both English and German, and Dutch being a mixture of both *SCNR* :D):
Here's an automatic translation by Google:
Sir ...,

Disappointing for sure, but it's still a good idea to ask. At least they know there are potential customers who are interested.
