[Solved] Doc texts are missing

Post by goodkid1 »

Hi Guys: While I have the correct file names listed when I open "Recent Documents", the actual texts are missing, and I get a box saying "Document does not exist". Is there a way for me to retrieve these missing documents? Some documents are still there, while some are missing. Thanks

Were they on a network or USB drive? If so, remake that connection.

It appears that the files are no longer in the location they were when last used; they may have been moved, renamed or deleted.

Try searching for files using Finder; if that fails, try this:

As soon as possible do the following:

Download Recuva (Windows only) or PhotoRec for Win, MacOS, Linux and other OSes (only one needed) and let it do an in-depth recovery of deleted files on your computer. You may get a file containing some or all of your data (or not). Do this as a first priority; other use of the computer may overwrite any existing but deleted files and prevent their recovery. There is no guarantee that you will recover anything useful.
Cheers

THANKS, ROBLEYD!! I THOUGHT that I had already done a simple search earlier, but I obviously didn't do it correctly. A search brought them up. So I simply kept each on up separately (they were still in AOO somehow but hidden), hit RELOAD from the AOO drop down menus, and that brought them back into the normal "Recent Documents" list in AOO. Thanks so much for your effort, knowledge, and follow through.
