Can't get single line spacing to work
Can't get single line spacing to work
I am trying to type a new document and have not been able to get it to single space even though it is on single spacing in the page format section! I'm having the same problem when I use a frame (text box). I'm trying to type an ad and CAN'T have this 1 1/2 or double space. HELP!

Select your paragraph and use /Format /Paragraph,: Indents and Spacing tab to apply single line space from the dropdown on that window,

I did that. It says "single" and it's NOT!

Re: Can't get single line spacing to work
Is it possible that you have one-line paragraphs? If you press Enter at the end of a line, you start a new paragraph, not a new line.
You can see the paragraph ends by View > Nonprinting characters: ON
Each ¶ marks the end of a paragraph.
Line spacing will only apply to lines within a single paragraph, where words wrap automatically at the right side.

Re: Can't get single line spacing to work
I've been trying to single space addresses so I can make them bigger and still save room.
I saw the reply about hitting enter and hit on this. Just push the spacebar and let the cursor crawl all the way down to the next line. I don't know if this works for other things besides regular documents, though. I'll have to go back to each line and tab to make the next address on the right, though. As if it has two columns, but not using "columns" setting.

Generally, using spaces to format the position of text is bad practice. It might be OK for a throwaway document that will only be printed once, but if the document is ever used on a different computer, the position of the text could change.paulalovescats wrote:Just push the spacebar and let the cursor crawl all the way down to the next line.
