How do I see a form on an existing database

Post by liensche1@yahoo.com »

Someone gave me a database to review. I open the form file in the database and I see a datasheet. I want to see the form that they created but I can't find how to get into form view in Apache OpenOffice Version 4 Database. Help!!!
Apache OpenOffice 4 for Windows. I have Windows 10.

We know nothing about your database. I can only guess that you are talking about an MS Access database. In this case the creator may be able to generate an executable file from that database which would include all the GUI elements. Otherwise there is no way other than using MS Access.

Form View in Database

Post by liensche1@yahoo.com »

How do I get a Form in OpenOffice into Form View and out of datasheet view. I have OpenOffice 4 for Windows. I received a file from someone using iMAC. I can't find an option anywhere on the screen to change the view of the form that he created. It is stuck in datasheet mode. Help!!

No, I am using Apache OpenOffice 4 for Windows. Someone created a database in OpenOffice on his Mac and gave me the file for review. It is not MS Access.

I see the form he created in datasheet mode but I cannot get it to show the form view.

I can see a form view when I am creating the form for the first time in Open Office. But when I come back and review the form, it only comes up in datasheet view.

I found it. You have to start the Form Wizard and select "Modify Form." Then it comes in to form view. I am trying to see how he did it, not get a form to fill in a database. So sending me a GUI from his database is not what I need.

Well, that did not work the same way twice. I don't know what I am doing wrong that I can't view a form in form view but only datasheet view.

I am trying to see how he set up his database. I am not using MS Access. I don't need an executable file. I need to switch view from datasheet to form view. I have OpenOffice 4 for Windows.

Every table, query, form and report can be opened in 2 ways at least. You can open it for use (double-click) or you can open it for editing (right-click>Edit).
After opening a form for editing, you need the "Form Design" toolbar.
