Impress does not support audio file format
Impress does not support audio file format
I am trying to add an MP3 file (which I have downloaded) into Impress to a presentation and seen a message that it does not support this format. In a different post it was stated that Impress does not like the # in the imported file name so I have renamed the file to X i.e.x.mp3
But it still will not import, what do I need to do to import the file, please?
I am using Win 10 and Impress 4.1.3
Thank you.

X i.e.x.mp3so I have renamed the file to X i.e.x.mp3
Why you used more than one 'dot' extension separator characters and space in the file name?

Re: Impress does not support audio file format
I think that is the intended meaning; i.e. means id est - Latin for that isI have renamed the file to X - i.e. - x.mp3

Thank you for your help and support,DrGuenter wrote:Today, I faced the very same problem - Impress obviously hates "#" in the audiofilename.
Embedding of mp3 audio files works fine, unless there is a "#" in the filename,
like "01-Praeludium F# Major (Bwv 882)_Auszug.mp3",
Impress issues the errormessage
"The format of the selected file is not supported"
or - in my case - the localized german
"Das Format der ausgewählten Datei wird nicht unterstützt".
Thanks for your guidance - removing the sharp of the filename resolved the problem.

[Tutorial] Embedding Video into OOo Impress for Windows where rezo says
[quote="Rezo"]
There have been a lot of questions as to why the OpenOffice Impress Software cannot use Videos. The reason is that the embedded video does not actually run through Impress - you must add software to your computer in order for it to work.
Do the following:
1. Download DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer.
2. Download CCCP Codec Pack
3. Make sure 32 bit Java (Click "FREE JAVA DOWNLOAD") is installed on your PC. You may already have 64 bit Java installed. but AOO uses 32 bit Java so you must also have 32 bit Java.
4. Install DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer.
5. Install CCCP Codec Pack
Now that they are installed, insert the video. It will play.

Re: Impress does not support audio file format
You dont need to download and install the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer or 32-bit Java to get audio support working, all you have to do is install a codec bundle that has the audio codec that you need. K-Lite Codec Pack is recommended on the LibreOffice Media Support on Windows wiki.John_Ha wrote:Do the following:
