Installation problem

Post by thomazp »

Please,
I tried to install Openoffice 4.1.2 in FEDORA 23, downloaded and installed (Portuguese language) , it was insttalled sucessfully, but I couldnt't start the application.
The error received:
# ./startup.sh
./startup.sh: line 41: /opt/openoffice4/program/startup.sh.bin: Arquivo ou diretório não encontrado (file not found in portuguese)
It was installed in english and I had to remove and reinstall in Portuguese.
What should I do ?
Thanks,

Greetings and welcome to the community forum!

Fedora supports LibreOffice; you can install it with the software manager. Can you use that instead of Apache OO?

Where is ?
I am using Fedora in Portuguese and I have to install Libreoffice in Portuguese too (they asked me ).
The keyboard is correctly configurated, because it is working w/ Portuguese (dead keys).
I downloaded the package needed.
Thanks,

Going to the installation location:
/ope/openoffice4/program/ and starting the script startup.sh , the answer is:
./startup.sh: line 41: /opt/openoffice4/program/startup.sh.bin: Arquivo ou diretório não encontrado
(In portuguese: File or director not found).
Do I need to modify the script ?

If you can find startup.sh.bin on your computer, then you should modify the script to point to it. I'm not running an RPM using system so cannot comment on where it might be - I don't find it on my Ubuntu systems.

But the line contains only one line:
exec "$0.bin" "$@"
And what should I do ?
He is searching where the command isn't located.
Any ideas ?

Didn't work:
# ls /opt/openoffice4/program/startup.sh
/opt/openoffice4/program/startup.sh
[root@localhost program]# /opt/openoffice4/program/startup.sh
/opt/openoffice4/program/startup.sh: line 41: /opt/openoffice4/program/startup.sh.bin: Arquivo ou diretório não encontrado (in portuguese: File or directory not found)
Same error as before.
I think I must modify he installation script.

I achieved installing ABIWORD and it is working.
The roduct has a worksheet (like excell) to install aside ?
How can I put a shortcut in the Program ?
Thanks,

Forget the first question, the shorcut is already in Programs .
I am installing Gnumeric tool to substitute Excell.
Now I have to create the shorcuts.
Thanks again.

Close this thread, I will open another asking how to remove the Libreoffice shorcuts created.

Sorry. Did you try what I suggested? The command you quoted above was different than what I suggested:

/opt/openoffice4/program/soffice NOT startup.sh
