OO Base error: "file URL not correct"

Post by horst.graben »

Hello,

I. I am getting an error message when trying to open a form:
  • OpenOffice.org Base
(-) The connection to the data source "My Database" could not be established.
The file URL is not correct.
    [OK]
II. I can click through the [OK] and enter the form
  • but my ComboBoxes cannot read the tables they are based on. The next time I try and mopen this database, OpenOffice does not seem to recognize the file type and gives me a long menu of possible options (e.g., similar to the possible file format options in a "Save As" menu)

But! this only happens under these conditions:

    (1) The database is hosted on a LAN server (E-Box on Ubuntu Hardy desktop), and is being accessed by another computer (tried 2 actually) running Linux (fresh install of Ubuntu Hardy). This problem does not occur when I use an Windows XP computer to access the database!

    ... or

    (2) Attempting to open a database on an XP computer from a Linux computer.

And, several weeks ago, everything worked fine!
(i.e., previous version of OO, and lots of other Linux updates ago).

HELP!
  • Does anyone have a clue as to what is happening here?
Can someone refer to to a more appropriate forum?

Thank you most sincerely for your attention!

Try the official version: [Ubuntu] Installing OOo on Debian and Co.
Else, perhaps a firewall issue. Can you access other files (like text files, ...)?
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.
