New features for OOo 3.0 (web services and Bibliography)

Post by pitonyak »

Take look at the feature list: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Features

I have questions regarding two items.

First, It lists a web services item. Huh? I find nothing else about this anywhere... Very strange. Does anyone know anything about this?

Second, are the bibliography changes preparing for something bigger, or is this the big final change that allows the "cool" stuff to happen with respect to bibliographies? I know that phase 1 changes were implemented some time ago, and for 3.0 we will have phase 2 changes... I want to say that they are likely ready, but I can not really tell.

I found this, which was last updated yesterday; OOo UNO Web Service. Not sure if this is what you were thinking of.

(By the way, love your free Macro document!)

Very interesting... I spent a lot of time searching for the web service information.... and I had found nothing other than one vague reference. This is very nice, thanks for the link.

Some of the information is frequently very well hidden. For example, I saw a reference to RDF being used in ODF 1.2, and then it took me a few weeks to find a reference...

I have a bunch of articles that I need to write about OOo. There will be an OOo issue of LinuxIdentity Magazine that corresponds to the OOo 3.0 release.

I am glad that you appreciate the macro document.

Thanks!
