In principle, yes, you can make use of OpenOffice.org code.
All you need to do is make sure that you respect the licenses of the code. You can read the licenses here:

You should try the mailing lists (see the support page on the OOo web iste).
BTW, your OOo version is really deprecated. Latest stable is 2.4.1, you may want to work also with Beta 3.0.
