[Solved] How to make a keyboard shortcut for and add-on?
[Solved] How to make a keyboard shortcut for and add-on?
I recently installed the newest version of OOO (4.1.1), which I use on Mac OSX (10.9.4). I use a writer add-on called accentuate, which allows me to write various accented letters in foreign languages (Czech, German, etc..). I would like to be able to activate this add-on with a keyboard shortcut, as I have done with an older version of OOO (3.4.1) and also the most recent version of Libre Office (4.3.4.1). I don't know how I did it the last time. This time, I went to tools -> customize -> keyboard and from there I am stuck. I seem to recall that it's necessary to get the add-on to appear in one of the function boxes at the bottom of the screen, so I can select it, but it's not there. Please note that I have installed the add-on successfully, but I can only activate it by clicking tools -> add-ons -> accentuate, which is much more cumbersome.
Many thanks,
Steve S.

I tried that, but every time I clicked on "macros", the whole thing would crash. Something about java runtime environment. Anyway, it's working now. Thanks.

Do you have a JRE configured? See in Tools>Preferences>OO>Java.
What is the exact error message?

This is one of the most ridiculous bugs in both OpenOffice and LibreOffice. "Accentuate" is a Basic macro shipped as an extension. It does not require any Java runtime at all. With Java disabled, most of the UI controls related to macros trigger the wrong error message that

You can answer [No] to this message and proceed with your Basic and Python macros anyway. It is annoying but once you assigned your Basic/Python macro to some event, shorcut, toolbar or something else, everything works normally."OpenOffice requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. However, use of a JRE has been disabled. Do you want to enable the use of a JRE now? [Yes] [No] [Cancel]"

Something is wrong with your user profile. This screenshot shows the same dialog with a new user profile on a German guest account (working as "Guest" on a Ubuntu system creates a new user account with new office profiles). Assigning macros works with disabled Java after answering [No] to various JRE warnings (one warning per library).
